Monika's Doggie Rescue, 2 McCowan Road, Ingleside NSW 2101, Australia
About the event
There are over 80 big dogs at the shelter and volunteers will help to get as many as possible out for a 35-40 minute walk.
There are also about 20 bags of laundry every day needing to be hung out and, when dry, taken off the lines and folded as all the dogs get clean bedding every day. All people new to the shelter have to register as a volunteer on our computer. To do this we need to see your driver’s licence or some sort of photo ID .
Monika's Doggie Rescue is in Bloodwood Rd Ingleside
If coming from the east :
Take Mona Vale Rd through St Ives and Terrey Hills.
The next suburb is Ingleside.
Turn left at Tumburra St at the bottom of the hill . Follow this
road along for two kilometres.
If coming from the north :
Take 2nd road on the right after Baha’i Temple [ Tumburra St ] and proceed as above .
The road changes its name a few times , keep going until you reach a t-intersection then turn left at Bloodwood Rd.
Doggie Rescue is at the bottom of the hill on the left.
Parking:
Please park on the road outside the gate.
You will see other cars parked there. There is no parking inside the gate.
Where to meet:
The team will meet everyone at the entrance to the shelter at 10 am
You may want to bring your own water as the water at the shelter comes from the dam. However we do have some cold drinks for sale . Also everyone might want to bring their lunch . Otherwise you might have to drive to the shops at Terrey Hills or Mona Vale .
Clothing:
Please wear old clothes that you do not mind getting dirty (or hairy)...and closed-in,
comfortable shoes for walking.....(an OH&S requirement). No thongs or ballet flats are permitted.
The walk up the hill with the dogs is fairly strenuous and, in places, uneven, so stable footwear is a must.
Sun Protection:
Please wear a hat and sunscreen and bring wet weather gear if required.
