Juliet Pryke’s career at Foxtel Group is a masterclass in turning ambition into achievement. Starting with a dream of working in the sports industry, Juliet has carved out an impressive path—spanning Fox Sports, Kayo, and now Binge and Hubbl—thanks to her determination, adaptability, and the opportunities she’s seized.
Juliet’s journey began with a major pivot during university, switching from a Town Planning degree to Commerce with a marketing major. Her focus and drive quickly landed her a sought-after internship at Football Australia, where she made an immediate impact and secured her first full-time role. But Juliet had her sights set on Fox Sports, a name synonymous with the best in sports broadcasting. Ignoring advice from family against leaving a secure position for a short-term contract, she seized the chance to join the Fox Sports team.
The move paid off, and Juliet quickly moved from a temporary position to a permanent role, rising to Marketing Manager for football. Her early experiences at Fox Sports not only solidified her expertise but also underscored a valuable lesson: today’s colleagues and connections can become tomorrow’s key stakeholders. This foundation of relationships served her well when she transitioned to one of Foxtel Group’s most transformative projects—Kayo Sports.
Juliet joined Kayo as a founding team member, contributing to its evolution from concept to market leader. Building marketing teams, creating campaigns, and shaping the brand, she relished the chance to work on a product free from legacy constraints, a hallmark of Foxtel Group’s sprit of innovation and disruption.
The next pivotal moment came when her mentor encouraged her to step into the world of customer engagement, an area that stretched Juliet’s skill set and tested her leadership. Taking on the role of Senior Customer Engagement Manager, she built and led a new team while navigating responsibilities like presenting to the Board, experiences she credits as critical to her personal and professional growth.
“For me, growth has always come from being thrown in the deep end,” says Juliet,
reflecting on how challenges have shaped her career. Her ability to lean on mentors, collaborate across teams, and maintain a mindset of resilience and curiosity has been central to her success.
“It’s way easier for leaders who know you to give you an opportunity that you may not have any prior experience in or knowledge of. Having good mentors and leaders that know you have a passion in a particular area and are willing to learn will go a long way,” she continues.
Today, Juliet applies her wealth of experience to her role across Binge, Kayo, and Hubbl, influencing programs of work that extend far beyond her team’s usual remit. She balances her professional achievements with her personal milestone of becoming a first-time parent, noting how parenthood has sharpened her efficiency and added perspective to her work.
“Being a parent makes you more efficient in your job. Time becomes more of a commodity and priorities are carried out with more urgency … it also has added a bit of perspective which can be liberating in my approach to work,” says Juliet.
Looking back, Juliet highlights her work on Kayo Sports as a career-defining experience:
“It was a pretty rare opportunity to build a product from the ground up, free from legacy processes and backed by the country’s leading media organisation.”
Her journey exemplifies the incredible career opportunities available at Foxtel Group, where ambition is supported, innovation is celebrated, and careers are built. Juliet’s story is a testament to the power of taking risks, embracing challenges, and thriving in a business that empowers its people to succeed.
